Very helpful site! Thanks!
Well, I am writing to you now because I need some guidance. Right now, me and my friends are in the middle of learning the basics of Holdem.
One instance bothered me a lot while playing. I had all the chips almost the near end of the night and a friend had just a few chips, already not enough to make even the small blind. At first, I thought I’ve won the game, but some friends at the table insisted that because we both placed in the amount of chips the other person has, and then both turn over our cards and go on like we are both all in, it turned out to be a different story. They insisted that whoever gets the best hand is the winner.
I cried out for a foul during that instance but they didn’t listen to me. In fact, they still continued playing for about 5 hands and a friend of mine keeps on playing though he can’t make the blind. Any advice?
Thank you so much.
Craig
Craig,
Your friends were correct. In a holdem game, if a player does not have enough money to post the blind, they are all-in for the amount they have in front of them. You only have to call the amount they have. If they win the hand, they double their chips and play continues. They are not out of the game until they are out of money, even if they cannot make the blinds.
